About Katana Knives

Over centuries, the Japanese sword transformed—evolving from weapon to treasured work of art. Though changed, each blade has always embodied the spirit and skill of the Japanese people.
“Katana Knives” continues that legacy, created by swordsmiths and polishers using the same materials and techniques as the sword itself. It is a knife that carries the beauty and pride of Japan—transcending time, brought into modern life.

Carrying Beautiful Japanese Culture to the World and Future Generations
For many years, we have been deeply involved in Japan’s seasonal traditions, such as the Hina and May doll festivals. Through this work, we’ve come to know the spirit of prayer, aesthetic beauty, and the craftsmanship that sustain these customs—each technique carrying the enduring heart of Japan.
Yet in recent years, caught in the relentless tide of time, many of these treasured techniques and customs are quietly fading away. Each time we witness these beautiful traditions slipping from memory, we ask ourselves:
“How can we preserve these gifts for future generations?”
To ensure culture endures into the future, it must remain needed—cherished by people today and tomorrow. We want to be the bridge that connects Japan’s craftsmanship and values to the world, making them accessible and appreciated far beyond their roots.
Having walked alongside these time-honored traditions, we believe this is a role that we can uniquely fulfill.

Our Answer: Katana Knives
We turned our attention first to a culture deeply rooted in our home region of Okayama Prefecture: the legacy of the Japanese sword. Born from unique forging techniques, these swords once embodied the very soul of the samurai, and today shine as exquisite works of art.
Though swords no longer cross paths with everyday life, we wondered if there was a way to bring the essence of the sword closer to people’s daily experience. Could more people encounter the allure and history of the Japanese sword in a form they use every day?
From this hope, “Katana Knives” was born. Crafted from the same high-quality materials as the sword itself, and shaped by the hands of skilled swordsmiths, each knife carries the spirit and beauty of the Japanese sword into the modern kitchen.

A Work of Art You Can See, Touch, and Use
Driven by a sincere desire to share Japan’s remarkable culture with the world and future generations, we commissioned top master swordsmiths and sharpeners to bring this vision to life.
The swordsmith handles the precious tamahagane steel with utmost respect, patiently forging and shaping each blade by hand. The sharpener then carefully assesses each edge, revealing the hidden beauty within the steel.
In today’s world of efficiency, this painstaking process takes a length of time that few can imagine. The result is a masterpiece—truly a work of art made for use. No two are alike.
Each blade, imbued with the soul and pride of the craftsman, becomes a lifelong companion in the kitchen, quietly supporting you through the rhythms of life.
For us, this is only the beginning. We will continue to elevate Japan’s diverse traditions and the skills and values nurtured within—to deliver them to the next generation, and the world.

Introducing the Craftsmen
“Katana Knives” was realized through countless visits to Japan’s cutlery regions, working closely with master artisans, and refining every detail. The result is a blade that can truly be called, “a work of art with purpose,” with each artisan giving it a unique character.
These are craftsmen who have dedicated their lives to tamahagane, pouring their passion and sincerity into every piece. We are honored to share both their knives and their stories.
